The City of Millersville, Tennessee
The City of Millersville is focused on creating a prosperous future while preserving our history.
Sanitation Division
The Sanitation Division, or Solid Waste Department, began operating in January of 2004 and provides Millersville with city wide residential garbage collection.
Prior to the program, the city was served by more than a dozen private collectors with a wide range of fees and schedules. The city’s program was so successful that it won the Award of Excellence from the Greater Nashville Regional Council in its first year of operation.
Much of the trash collected in the city is picked up using a modern “Automated Collection Truck”. A mechanical arm grabs the container and empties it into the truck. This automation plays a major role in keeping fees low.
Beginning in September of 2013, the contents of your household container will be collected by Waste Industries of Tennessee. The City has contracted with Waste Industries for this service. Please make certain that all of your trash is bagged and placed inside the container. Trash placed outside the container may not be collected and the cart may not be emptied if items are placed on top of the lid.
City personnel will continue to collect a limited amount of bulk items, appliances and furniture, and a limited amount of tree and bush trimming waste.
